Spring
Grammy gave Sophia an early birthday present of seeds and a starter kit to get a head start on our garden.
Sophia did a great job writing out the markers for some of the herbs... basil, cilantro, lavender and parsley.Sophia's guide to planting:
Step 1: Take a handful of beans
Step 2: Push them into the dirt.
Step 3: Water and wait!

The truth to how all the garden work gets done.
Faces

Face painting at the zoo...
I tried to get some shots of Daniel in this outfit. Everything he is wearing, from the jacket down to the shoes, used to be his cousin Ewan's, who Daniel reminds us of more and more lately. Anyhow, I managed to get some shots of the kids making funny faces. I don't know what Sophia is doing behind Daniel in the bottom shot, but it sure is cute.Easter

trips
We took another trip to Springfield with Grandpa Joe. This time the kids got to visit Lincoln's Tomb and rub his nose.
We also toured Lincoln's home, where the kids were made honorary National Park Rangers.
They played dress up at the Lincoln Museum. Sophia liked Mary Todd's dresses.
And so did Daniel.
But he made a much cuter Lincoln
The Field Museum was free for the month, so Sophia had a mommy-daughter day at the museum while Daniel played with Grandma Holmes.

Daniel's Birthday
Sophia helped design Daniel's cake... chocolate cake with blue and green icing and trains on top. The kids did the decorating. As Grandpa Holmes said, it tasted much better than it looked.
Daniel didn't seem to mind the design at all.

Daniel and his new blue bike.
We took a trip to the Nature Museum to finish off the day.
